Overall Ratings

Graphics: ★★★★★

Storyline: ★★★★

Audio/Voice Acting: ★★★★★

Mechanics/Controls: ★★★☆☆

This game has astounding graphics, voice acting, and terrifying scares. Layers of Fear takes you into a first person horror game without cheap jump scares. The voice acting is sincere and superb in quality. The actors and actresses seem to be a part of the game and aid the realistic view of it all. In addition, the terrifying scares are original and effective. Each one is set up differently and finds various ways to make you shake in your seat.

Layers of Fear, although great, has several weaknesses. At many points, opening doors and drawers can be difficult. Particularly on the PC, opening things can be daunting and finicky. In addition, almost all drawers are able to be opened, but not many hold significant items. This means you are spending a good portion of the game opening and searching every nook and cranny in the game. This can get tiring after a while.

Despite these weaknesses, this video game has wonderful qualities that showcase true artistic design. Layers of Fear, in my opinion, is a game worthy of its high ratings. Anyone looking for great scares, graphics, and voice acting, should definitely buy this game. Enjoy this creatively constructed video game and allow it to immerse you in a truly frightful experience. Have fun and remember, horror games were made to be played at night!
