The Freehold Boro Girls’ Volleyball team will be going up against Wayne Hills in the first round of the NJSIAA New Jersey Group 3 State Tournament. The Colonials have amassed a 15-5 record this season, finishing 8th place in the state. Additionally, it was the first time ever in their history to have made it to the Shore Conference Tournament, despite a tough loss to Toms River North in the first round. This senior class was also the only class to have made it to the state tournament all four years.

Part of that is due to the leadership from senior captain Molly Elslager. Elslager is a four year varsity starter for the Colonials, who was there to witness all four state appearances. I got the chance to talk to her about how the team is preparing for the tournament, how far she thinks they will go, and how her experience in past state tournaments will help guide the team.
