Relay for Life is an up-and-coming club at the Boro that started late this year. The club is always looking for new members and is excited to welcome them in the fall! So, what is Relay for Life?
Relay for Life is a club that raises funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society, a non-profit organization that supports cancer research and cancer patients. The club was founded in February of this year by Matthew Kouveliotes (totally unbiased article) and Matthew Hiro.
At the beginning of the year, you and a group of friends will form a team with the goal of raising as much money as possible for the Relay for Life Event at Freehold Township High School. Throughout the year, you participate in fundraisers, events, and projects to help raise funds and spread the American Cancer Society’s message!
At the end of the year, all teams attend the Relay event at Freehold Township High School, an overnight event celebrating our fundraiser, honoring cancer patients and survivors, and contributing to the larger mission of the American Cancer Society. The event has powerful ceremonies, on-site fundraisers, and various activities.
Combined, all the teams at the FTHS event raised over $130,000 in support of the fight against cancer, with Boro teams contributing to that total.
