At a certain age, or perhaps maybe from an early stage in your life, you have insecurities, Everyone does. But realistically speaking, just because everyone has insecurities, doesn’t mean you will not feel subconscious about your flaws. I don’t like the word flaws. Now, everything and everyone in life isn’t perfect,,,,everything has flaws. But who decided flaws could be…bad?
There are many flaws about me – physically and mentally. If I see a picture of me, my brain can spot perhaps many flaws that I see. But how I approach them is different, and I feel like others could benefit from this perspective.
Perfection nowadays has been glorified (through social media) that it is beautiful and elegant. And maybe there is some truth to it but I think flaws in anything makes everything more interesting and beautiful. Living in a world where everyone has to fit into a cookie-cutter way to be perfect is horrible. Then, as time goes on, everything starts looking the same and feels boring and stiff. Seeing imperfections in humans can help us grow further, rather than aspiring to achieve an unreachable, imperfect standard that society tells us is “the best”. Sure, you can always want clear skin, a nice body, the best clothes, and perfect whatever.
But looking at my photos, I can admire my imperfect eyesight, acne-scarred skin, and not so perfect, frizzy hair. I learn to be happy and embrace my flaws, understanding that they make me special.
Don’t forget to love yourself, and that you don’t need to be perfect.
