When Darkness Falls

When Darkness Falls

If darkness had fallen but an hour after,
Everything would be different now.
The sun would be shining,
and we’d all be dining,
and birds would be singing,
and heads would be ringing,
from happiness, joy.
But darkness fell when it did.

If darkness had fallen but an hour before,
Nothing would be the same as it is.
There would have been no rope,
and our hearts full of hope,
and we’d all be together,
conscience light as a feather,
not a black thought in our minds.
But darkness fell when it did.

Darkness fell when it did,
and we could do nothing
to stop the dark necklace,
and now all are crying,
standing by the big rock,
which there stands all because
darkness fell when it did.
