“Shutter Island, a movie based on the novel, takes place in 1954 and follows a U.S. Marshal that investigates the disappearance of a murderer who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane. Based on the Netflix description : While investigating a missing patient at a psychiatric facility, a US marshal gets caught in a web of deception and starts to question his reality. Major actors star in this movie like Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Ben Kingsley.

This movie is a psychological thriller and mystery full of plot twists and turns. It may be a two hour movie but those watching will say that’s not even enough. Although the film was produced in 2010, it’s still very much popular. The eerie movie keeps the audience longing for more even after the credits roll.

The acting is impeccable and seamless. There is symbolism throughout the entire movie that leaves the audience rewatching the movie and still picking up on new things. Personally, I’ve watched it three times and every time I notice a new detail that I did not notice before. As for the end, no person could predict it. It was not cliche or at all predictable. The film is wonderfully made.

“Shutter Island” is a must for those that love psychological thrillers because it truly gives the brain a workout! The film keeps the audience guessing right till the very end. I highly recommend this for Leonardo DiCaprio lovers as well because of his exceptional acting. For those that don’t enjoy the dark mysterious vibe, this movie may not be for you! But for those that do, I know that you’ll love the movie and be wishing that it never ended…
