Have you ever wondered if a city could have a combination of two other cities? Imagine, taking two of the most well-known cities and blending them together, like Paris and New York City combined! Funny how there already is a city like that, London. It literally feels like Paris and New York City combined. London is a lot like New York City culturally, not so much by the appearance of the city. Paris’ appearance is freakishly similar to London’s appearance. Let’s take a deep dive into the fascinating capital of the United Kingdom.

Firstly, let’s begin with the most famous places in London. The widely known landmark, Big Ben. The grand clock that has a bell that strikes every hour of the day. Fascinating how that building has been standing high for 165 years with 11 floors. Another interesting landmark I have visited is the Kensington Palace, which was a royal residence since the 17th century. The palace was famous for its elegant gardens like the Sunken Garden. The garden has a beautiful statue of Princess Diana. Additionally, a famous rom-com, Notting Hill, was filmed within the Sunken Garden, crazy, no?

London’s food was one of my favorite memories of the city itself. Everyone pokes fun at the British only drinking tea and eating bland food, but they aren’t half wrong. I did experience being at a place where there was tea, desserts, and food. Since this is London, of course, there is tea. My family and I did order tea but I dislike tea (and coffee) so I didn’t try it. The food’s presentation would be extra as always with the lavish tea stands filled with cookies, biscuits, and crumpets. I could definitely say this with full confidence that I felt like a true British person experiencing a tea party while eating small snacks from a tea stand though.

I always loved food markets but London’s food market was astronomical. So many food stands and all of them are different too. It could be really overwhelming for a person who is indecisive. Each food stand was a different country that had their local foods. The American stand had their national food like burgers, fries, and fried chicken. A lot of other countries like the Netherlands, Korea, China, and even their own United Kingdom stand. That experience of exploring various cultures with food was amazing for me.

London is one of my favorite cities because of the whole environment and culture. Its historical European roots bring out the fascinating aspects it has. Being able to see the London Bridge, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, and the London Eye (the famous Ferris wheel) is so exciting. If I am being honest, it is one of my top 3 most favorite places that I have gone to. Mainly because it reminds me of my favorite cities, New York City and Paris. Speaking of, I can’t wait to tell you about the experience of the other European places I have visited. See you soon, in the next article.
