On Friday, October 3rd, the girls volleyball team had their senior night game in the main gym. The gym was glowing with team posters, streamers, and balloons. Families filled the stands with cardboard cutouts and signs, cheering for their players. Before the first serve, each senior walked out after their shoutout to take pictures with their families, and the crowd cheered louder than they had all season. The student section was packed with friends, screaming and clapping. It was understood that this wasn’t just another game, it was a goodbye for seniors as well as a chance to say thank you to the players who built the team over the last four years.
The previous events set the atmosphere for the game. The entire team was hyped up, smiling, and ready to take on Shore Regional. All of the parents on the bleachers were yelling in support of their kids, and all of the friends that came out were cheering, clapping (and stomping), trying to make as much noise as possible.
The score of the game was close the whole time, but Shore Regional managed to push ahead at the last few points of both sets, ultimately resulting in the Boro girls’ loss. Despite the loss, the team kept their heads up and had good energy for the remainder of their senior night. It was clear how the close the team had become over the course of the last season, and it was definitely a night to remember!
