On November 30, 2022, Spotify and Apple Music each released their “wrapped”, a term for a slideshow displaying your top songs and artists you have listened to over the year. What’s the difference? Well, Spotify’s is called Wrapped, and Apple Music’s is called Replay. Also, Apple Music’s Replay is new this year to compete with Spotify Wrapped. Though it’s existed as a playlist presentation since 2019, it’s more like Spotify Wrapped nowadays.

Many people say that Apple Music Replay is more aesthetically pleasing, while Spotify Wrapped is more shareable. Unlike Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay doesn’t give you a full summary – while Spotify will give you a summary of your total minutes listened, your top genre, your top 5 artists, and your top five songs all on one page.

Besides that, they’re very similar with a few differences here and there.  Depending on who you talk to, some people say Apple Music Replay is better while others prefer Spotify Wrapped, but if you really look at the whole reason why people love Spotify Wrapped, it’s because it’s a way to connect with others. It’s a way to show what music and artists you listen to, so not being able to have that summary on Apple music lets Spotify take the lead on the best music app recap.
