To Winter:

The scent of peppermint steaming off my latte

I stare out the window at the freefalling snow

Coating the road, turning the once-black pavement gray

The setting sun signals the Christmas lights to glow

How could you not love the warm knitted hats

And snowmen on the street

The old man who is fat

And his friends who keep his wonderland neat

The snow days off from school

And cookies made with love

The way the air feels cool

And you might spot a dove

But winter will come and go

From Spring’s blooming flowers

To Autumn’s warm throws

Yet nothing will bring me peace like Winter’s beautiful snow showers
