School spirit is about to be put to the test as Battle of the Classes returns, bringing grades together to compete for pride, points, and bragging rights. Students from every grade are preparing to face off in a series of games designed to test teamwork, skill, and school spirit.
This year, however, Battle of the Classes is bringing some exciting changes. Instead of voting for teams as in years past, the event has shifted to be more inclusive and fair. Any student can now sign up to participate, with no limit on team members. Once teams are formed, students decide among themselves who will take part in each event.
The events include a scavenger hunt, relay races, bulletin board, costumes, and of course, the highly anticipated dance, which consists of 7 boys and 7 girls. Just because you are not “on” the BOTC team does not mean that you can’t still help your grade win; spirit week will let EVERYONE from ALL grades earn points that will be added to the final score.
Here are some anonymous opinions from students here at the boro:
“I really like that they made some of these changes, I probably otherwise wouldn’t have signed up, so it definitely gave some people an opportunity”
“At first, I didn’t really have an open mindset and didn’t really like the idea; now, I’m glad they made some changes and think we are working together pretty well.”
“I personally think it was a good idea. I like that now there are different groups responsible for different parts of the events, instead of everyone carrying all of the responsibility.”
