You know those stuffed animals everyone has been obsessing over? The simple-faced ones…Jellycats. If you do not know what Jellycats are…you have been living under the biggest rock, to be honest. They are so popular. I think people treat them as collectibles. In New York City, specifically at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, they have an incredibly popular store. How do I know it’s popular? Well, 1: TikTok, and 2: I actually wanted to see the very store in person.
Unfortunately, however, there was a huge line. So I never got to experience it! Whatever, I’m totally not salty…totally not. Anyway, these Jellycats are rather expensive. I’m not kidding. Their prices are roughly 20 to 30 dollars per stuffed animal. Bear in mind, they are definitely not big. They can fit in a fanny pack. But why do people like them? Well, simply, they look cute.
But is the price justifiable for mere cuteness? I got a Jellycat for my birthday…and it’s a cheesecake, if y’all were wondering. I would be lying if I said I didn’t want a Jellycat… I’ll be honest, it is very cute. The little strawberry sauce and strawberries on the little thing’s head are adorable. Its dumb little legs are cute too. I’m a person who loves stuffed animals. I had Beanie-Boos growing up, and I LOVED collecting them.
But from the perspective of price, if you are someone who loves stuffed animals, I feel like there are better brands that offer better alternatives. Squishmallows are also expensive, but at least they are justified by their size. The main critique for me with the Jellycats is their size being so small…
But I still love my cheesecake Jellycat. I…I didn’t think of a name yet. Maybe I will…Or I won’t. I just think if you like stuffed animals, you should strive for ones that are big to compensate for the price.
