On October 21, 2022, Taylor Swift’s new album, Midnights, was released. We were given 13 songs in this album. Not including the other versions. Here is a short overview of all 13 songs in the album:

Track 1: Lavender Haze – The song title was named from a phrase in the 50s where they would describe it as falling in love. It’s an upbeat, cute pop song. She describes what she would feel in a lavender haze.

Track 2: Maroon – Song that talks about crushing on someone and how red they are, from all the blushing, etc. The reds of a relationship, maroon, scarlet, and burgundy.

Track 3: Anti-Hero – This song talks about Taylor’s personal failures. It talks about the many internal struggles we all deal with and many fans relate to the famous “It’s me, hi/ I’m the problem, it’s me”

Track 4: Snow on the Beach (ft. Lana Del Rey) – This song is about two lovers falling in love with each other simultaneously. The slow and soft song fits Lana and Taylor’s style as they harmonize perfectly together.

Track 5: You’re on Your Own, Kid – Spring vibe song. Recounts how a young person longs for love but realizes that they are on their own. “You’re on your own, kid/You always have been”

Track 6: Midnight Rain – It’s a light pop song. The song is about ending things with someone because they wanted to focus on making their own name. A “Sunshine” and a “Midnight rain”.

Track 7: Question…? – This song reflects on a past-relationship. Taylor asks her ex if their newer romantic experiences compare to the time they spent together.

Track 8: Vigilante Sh*t – Pop-rock type of song. It’s a lot like the songs in her old album Reputation. People thought this song would be what Karma sounds like, it’s more aggressive but still an amazing song.

Track 9: Bejeweled – It’s the opposite personality of the song mirrorball from folklore, she gains her confidence and feels herself. Shimmering and sparkling. “Best believe I’m still bejeweled when I walk in the room/I can still make the whole place shimmer”

Track 10: Labyrinth – Talks about falling in love with someone hard, not long after a heartbreak. Initially she thinks she will never recover from the pain of heartbreak and is amazed at herself finding comfort in a new person.

Track 11: Karma – This song talks about how Karma’s gonna get them back for what they did and basically personifies Karma. “Karma’s gonna track you down/Step by step from town to town”

Track 12: Sweet Nothing – Sounds like a nursery rhyme, it’s a very sweet and slow song. “I spy with my little tired eye/Tiny as a firefly/A pebble that we picked up last July”

Track 13: Mastermind – This song is about how a person is a “mastermind” because they plan out the small little things that would spark their relationship. “I laid the groundwork, and then just like clockwork/The dominoes cascaded in a line/What if I told you I’m a mastermind?”
