Almost three months into The Eras Tour, Taylor Swift has made her way to Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The stadium shows spanned three nights with performances on May 26, 27, and 28. Each city that Taylor Swift visits on the tour has done something special for the singer/songwriter’s arrival, New Jersey having comedically declared a “Taylor Swift Ham, Egg, and Cheese” sandwich the official state sandwich.

The first night of the show, Swift surprised many fans when she didn’t sing “Welcome to New York” as one of the two surprise songs for night one of her “New York” shows, instead singing “Getaway Car” with Jersey native Jack Antonoff and “Maroon” from her most recent album, Midnights. Night two the surprise songs were “Holy Ground” from her Red album and “False God” which is off the Lover album. Swift sang “Welcome to New York” as the first surprise song her last night at Metlife and followed it up with her first repeat surprise song of the tour, “Clean” off the 1989 album.

Personally, I attended the second night at Metlife after a few failures at attempting to get tickets. Ticketmaster was an absolute mess when the tickets for The Eras Tour first opened, and after I waited six hours online I hadn’t initially gotten tickets and ended up buying tickets off someone else. The experience of the concert was well worth the trouble and Taylor Swift put on an incredible performance. Swift sang a total of 44 songs over the about three hour show and took fans through almost all of her album eras singing the most songs from Folklore and Midnights with seven songs each, and the least from her debut self-titled album “Taylor Swift” since there is not a single song off that album with a permanent spot on the setlist.

Other surprise guests that Swift brought on stage besides the night one performance with Antonoff, she sang “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers all three nights to celebrate the last three nights that Bridgers would be opening on the Eras Tour before she sets off with the rest of the band, Boygenius, on their own tour. In celebration of the release of “Karma ft. Ice Spice” Ice Spice joined Swift on stage all three nights.

Taylor Swift is officially halfway through the Eras Tour and continues next weekend with three shows in Chicago. It is rumored that she will release the dates for her international tour soon.
