How would you describe the season so far? How has it compared to those before?
“The season is going okay, but it hasn’t been how we thought it would be. I honestly feel like we might be underperforming. Obviously, last year we made it to the semi-finals, and the year before the championship, so it feels easier to be hard on ourselves because we’ve seen what it’s like to be great.”
Despite the team’s strong history, this year has presented new challenges. According to Cade, the biggest issue hasn’t been skill or effort, but team chemistry.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve seen your team face?
“I would say the biggest challenge we’ve had to face has to do with the chemistry of the team itself. Sometimes, it feels like we don’t work together as a team. I’ve run into some issues where we’ll come into a problem, but we don’t have each other’s backs. We don’t defend each other as much as we should. Moving forward, this is an issue we have to face as a team and learn to work better together”.
What advice would you give incoming freshmen who would like to join the team in future years?
“I would just say a try-out alone is a great experience. It’s a great way to make friends and put yourself out there. I would also say just don’t mess around too much.”
Looking ahead, what are you looking forward to the most as the season progresses?
“I am looking forward to the playoffs, because it’s a chance for us to show our hard work.”

The team has faced a competitive schedule this season, pushing players to improve both individually and as a unit. According to Cade, each game, even the losses, has contributed to the team’s development. Spirits are high this week after they beat Long Branch yesterday with a close score of 54-53, breaking their loss streak of 5. With the playoffs approaching, the team hopes to build off this momentum and finish the season stronger and more united than ever.
