Hey Boro! This article is going to feature a very interesting club here at FRHSD: Psychology Club! Whether you know about this club or not, from what I’ve gathered from some first-person interviews and observations, it’s definitely worth an article. While brainstorming what club to feature in this article, my friend Samyuktha popped this bright idea: Why don’t I come to the Psychology Club and observe them first-hand? When I entered the class, I was told that they were experimenting. In order to study human behavior, they were playing an incredibly high-stakes game of basketball, involving a plastic mini light-up ball and a Glow Games basket, which was hooked on a trash bin in the corner.
From what I’ve had the pleasure of seeing, I’ve noticed that despite the increased stakes and the very intense game, it really seems like a fun place to be! For one, Sam couldn’t stop giggling. Those stakes must have been high because it was very easy to study the impact that pressure can have on an individual.
Unless you haven’t caught my point, I want to reiterate that this club seems to be one where you can definitely have a laugh talking about human pressures. From the wise words of Sam, “It’s nice hanging out with people who aren’t so locked in all the time after having a bunch of MedSci classes. The environment is really good. I just like being there.” These words show only a small portion of the true fun and friendship that goes into being in this club.
Other than basketball, they perform many different experiments that deal with different situations in psychology. If you like doing hands-on activities, these experiments will be right up your alley!
In addition, even if you are not interested in being in this club, it would mean a lot to them if you contributed to their club, regardless! For instance, they sold cake pops and brownies during NJGPA week!
All in all, make sure to join, or at least support, Boro’s Psychology Club!
