The River on Halloween Night
The hills darken while the leaves fall,
Leaving tracks behind on what
Was to happen that Halloween night.
The water moving slowly
To the sound of the wind,
The noise of children knocking on the doors.
“Trick or treat” brings back so much memory,
But so little I remembered from that night:
Candy being left behind, the sound of
Joy and laughter, the lips of pumpkins.
Humming later that night at the river,
There he was wishing he could be a kid
Again..
